Divorce Financials- Our Process

Our Process
The 4 stages of Divorce Consultation:

Initial Meeting: Although we recommend you attend one of our complimentary Divorce Workshops, it’s not required.  You can schedule an initial consultation with Maryann. She will discuss the divorce process and offer guidance on how to navigate it:

  • Second Saturday Overview
  • Introductions
  • Family and Emotional Guidance
  • Legal Matters
  • Real Estate
  • Financial Issues in Divorce
  • Q&A

Data Gathering/Advisor Review: If you choose to proceed, we will start gathering documentation such as tax returns, bank and credit card statements, W-2s, and more.  You will then meet with Maryann 1-on-1 to further discuss your goals, financial situation, and key dates so she can calculate multiple scenarios for your outcome.

Mediation/Litigation Prep: Whether your divorce is collaborative without getting the courts involved, or requires legal intervention, Maryann will prepare supporting documents and recommendations such as:

  • Calculation of income and expenses for maintenance and child support
  • Sworn Financial Statements
  • Marital division of assets
  • Executive Compensation / Stock Options Evaluation
  • Pension Valuation
  • Business/Real Estate Valuation
  • Retirement Plans Analysis and QDRO recommendations
  • Lifestyle Analysis / Cash Flow
  • Mediator Support Estimates
  • Tax Planning (different than tax advice from a licensed CPA)
  • Forensic Accounting/Asset Tracing if there any concerns about hiding funds or wasting assets by your spouse
  • Expert Witness Testimony when needed for Arbitration Support

Post-Divorce Transition Assistance: Once settled, you and Maryann can strategize financial and retirement planning, investment optimization, risk management, building wealth, and adding protection for your loved ones to keep you prepared in this new stage of your life.  As your CDFA®, we are here to support your attorney to get you the best possible outcome, so that you are empowered to move forward with financial strength and peace of mind. It's important to note that Maryann works in conjunction with your divorce attorney but does not offer legal advice.
